Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 leaked all over my internets

September 12, 2009
I managed to get about 4 hours of play on the yet to be released MUA2 yesterday. what can I say about the game at this time?
Well if you liked the last Marvel Ultimate Alliance you will most likely dig this one too. It's pretty much the same gameplay wise. with the addition of 'Fusions'. Powerful team up attacks that fall into a few standard catagories.Graphics are pretty much the same as before. maybe slightly better. but the characters are so small and the enemies so numerous that you won't notice anyways. Voice acting is not great but not horrible. Extra replay value is forced on you by having to play through twice to experiance the full game and get all the unlockables.

It's still early but I am gonna go ahead and say this is a buy for Marvel nuts and MUA fans only. All others rent, borrow, or steal before you make andy hasty purchases.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

September 12, 2009
It's the tits, get it now.

As far as Superhero games go. Batman:AA is the new shining star. the game that all other superhero games hope to be when they grow up. Unfortunately most of them will wind up as drunken 7-11 clerks. Like that good for nothing Ironman game.

The secret to B:AA's success is most likely that it isn't tied down to some crappy hollywood movie storyline. Although it does have an overblown  'hollywood' ending, which may be it's only downfall. Regardless it's solid in all th...

What the fuck happened to 2d fighter Part 2: Street Fighter IV

August 14, 2009
Of all the fighting games that have come out or are coming soon, Street Fighter IV had me the most hyped. So does SFIV live up to the legacy? yes and no.

SFIV is a 2d fighter in a 3d coat. gone are the lovingly drawn sprites of old. I understand that building and animating a 3d model is alot less time consuming then drawing 1000s of sprites. But come on, I love the sprites. Graphics wise SFIV is a mixed bag. the animations are jaw dropping, but the character design is lacking in my opinion. t...

Wolfenstein Xbox 360

August 14, 2009
Wolfenstein for xbox 360 leaked the other day, so of course I grabbed it up. I've got about 5 hours into the single player at this point. I haven't dipped into the Multiplayer at all but I may get into that today.

ATTENTION CRYBABYS! spoilers may be ahead. Probably not, but maybe.

So far I am liking the singleplayer aspect of Wolfenstein. it's pretty standard FPS gameplay. But the Controls are tight, the graphics are passable and the story is as interesting as any other Wolfenstein games. It's...

Iphone stuff

August 12, 2009
I'm currently playing a few games on the iphone/ipod touch. Once I get my head around them and form an opinion I'll post it up here.

The games are:
Wolfenstein RPG
Civilization: Revolution
Duke Nukem 3D

my initial impressions are: Duke: the Iphone sucks at FPS. Civilization: Slow and confusing but maybe when I figure out what all those little icons mean it'll get better. Wolfenstein RPG seems to be the best of the bunch. at least it is mildly fun. the turn based combat works well on the iphone.

Xbox 360 update is live.

August 11, 2009
The latest Xbox 360 update is now live and rolling out over the next few hours. some of the features you've been hearing about are not in this update but 'coming soon' like Twitter, Last.FM, and facebook. Bummers.

what do you get? Games on Demand, the Avatar Marketplace, new Netflix features. You know, the crap that you didn't want.

Well the New Netflix stuff is welcome. but buying virtual clothes for my Avatar that is pretty much ignored by all games seems pretty stupid to me. Games on Demand...

what the fuck happened to 2d fighters? Part 1: King of Fighters

August 9, 2009
Everyone has fond memories of their favorite 2d fighter, for me it's Capcom Vs SNK 2. I love that game. A huge list of fighters and 6, count em' SIX different Isms for each fighter. whats not to love. In the mid to late 90's fighting games just kept getting bigger and bigger. then all of the sudden it was over. FPS took over the gaming world. and we were doomed to a decade of Quake and Half Life rip offs. good times yeah?

Now it would seem that 2d fighters are making a comeback. At first glanc...

You've found my booty

August 4, 2009
Here you'll find the rantings of an old jaded pirate gamer. You'll thrill to my observations, You'll wilt at my unfiltered thoughts on the latest and greatest PC, xbox 360, and ipod touch games. Your knees will shake at the cold hard truth about how much that game you have been looking forward to for months sucks the cabin boy's balls.

But Pirate Gamer, you say, what about the summer game drought? Well I says, there is that.

In the mean time in between time I'll regale you with tales of old, g...
